Q&A with award-winning jazz artiste Somi07/02/2018
Right now I am in India for a series of concerts beginning with the Roundglass Samsara Festival which is dedicated in Environmental Consciousness. I am performing with Indian producer and GRAMMY winner Ricky Kej and a number of renown Indian and international artists on October 6 in Bangalore as part of the festival which includes music, art, photography and film. Then I am off to perform with my band at the legendary Jodhpur RIFF festival in Rajasthan and will perfuming in the Jaipur as well. I am just coming from the UN General Assembly Week in NYC as my capacity as a UN Foundation Ambassador for the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves where I spoke and performed at a number of events including the Social Good Summit, We The Future and SDG Live. I worked in association with the Skoll Foundation, TED, Mashable, UN Foundation, 92Y and the United Nations.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by people who use their talents to make a difference in the world and to effect positive change.
What are you loving hearing about right now?
I love hearing about the increasing move towards renewable energy systems and the increasing awareness of everyone’s responsibility towards the environment.
Which 3 topics do you touch on the most in your talks?
Empowerment, culture and youth leadership.
Who would you love to see speaking in person, and on which topic?
Empowerment of African Women in the 21st Century
Next up I will be back in my home country of Ghana shooting a documentary video. I am also currently finishing up work on the follow up album to my GRAMMY nominated “Branches of the Same Tree” which I plan to release next year.

Global Citizen in NYC featuring Stevie Wonder
Who would you love to see perform and why?
That is a hard one as I have seen almost all of my favorite artists live. I would love to see Leon Bridges.Read more Read less
