Nick is a security consultant and a conservationist. He has raised some considerable funds for charitable causes through extreme challenges and adventures. Through his inspiring stories of his adventures, he brings real life lessons to his audiences, inspiring them to reach for their dreams and achieve their goals in life and at work.
Nick was born in Kenya and grew up in Kenya, India, Pakistan and America. He was educated in the UK and at the University of Toronto in Canada. After university, he joined the British Army as an officer in the 6th Gurkha Rifles where he served for nine years in Hong Kong, Brunei, Malaysia, Northern Ireland and Nepal.
On retiring from the Army, he joined Standard Chartered Bank in London as a project manager. He represented SCB and its charities in many extreme challenges; from over 10 marathons to multi-day adventure races, running across the Sahara desert, a marathon on the North Pole and eventually rowing a small boat across the Atlantic Ocean. Nick is also a keen sailor and climber and has explored much of the East African Coast and the Indian and Nepal Himalaya. He has also spent some time touring SCB Group motivating and training junior and senior leaders. After this, he was given the opportunity to start a new business; generate FX revenue across 10 markets in Africa. It became the main contributor to SCB Africa OP.
He retired from SCB in 2014 and helped establish a new wildlife conservancy in 5,000ha of Afro-montane forest on the slopes of Mt. Kenya. Nick is a champion for the environment and the primary aim of this venture is eco-Tourism, to fund a programme to protect the forests on Kenya’s greatest watershed and save the rare mountain Bongo, of which there are only 150 individuals left in the wild.
While not running around the forest or on Mt. Kenya, Nick does security consulting, capacity building and leadership training in the most challenging parts of Africa and beyond.
