Mugo Kibati is the Chairman of the Lake Turkana Wind Power Project which will be Africa’s largest wind farm and increase Kenya’s energy production br 20%.
Mugo is also the CEO of Pan Africa Insurance Holdings, an insurance and investments company based in Kenya and a member of the South African Sanlam Group with bold leadership experience in the public and private sector.
With 365 turbines and 76 billion Kenyan Shilling (€623 million), it is the largest renewable energy transaction in Africa’s history.
Mugo was the Director General of the Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Secretariat, spearheading the national strategy to transform Kenya into an industrialized country by the year 2030.
Mugo was Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of East African Cables, transforming a small Kenyan company into a regional blue chip firm with presence in South Africa, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda.
He also had marketing and engineering roles at Lucent Technologies in the United States as well as Bamburi Cement (Lafarge Coppee), and Kenya Petroleum Refineries (Shell Petroleum) in Mombasa, Kenya. Mugo sits on several corporate boards and has also held top national industry leadership positions including at the Federation of Kenya Employers, the Kenya Association of Manufacturers,and the Kenya Private Sector Alliance.
Mugo has a Masters degree from George Washington University and from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
